Rationale, aims and outcomes
-
What is the rationale for doing this?
How does it fit with institutional strategy?
What are the main features of the provision?
What are the aims and expected outcomes?
Although many opportunities for enterprise are made available at the University, some activites see lower than average take-up in the PhD and research staff populations.
The survey to assess attitudes towards entrepreneurship was undertaken to assess how our messages about entreprenueurship are received in order to improve the way we communicate enterprise-related opportunities to our researchers.
Analysis of the survey data is ongoing.

Evaluation: benefits, challenges and next steps

How do you monitor effectiveness?
Who do you seek feedback from?
Do you have benchmarks?
A clearer understanding of our researchers attitudes to this subject will enable us to tailor our message.
To encourage researchers to return the questionnaire, a box was put in the cafe area of the department. Respondents placing a completed survey in the box could claim a free cup of tea or coffee and a cookie.
I plan to extend the survey to undergrads and masters students, and to compare across departments.
