Ketso extends people's ability to run effective and enjoyable workshops - virtually anywhere and in any setting. It encourages people to be creative and share in productive dialogue, while also generating real results that can be put into action. Ketso provides a set of tabletop tools that can be used to capture and display people's ideas. It consists of colourful 'branches', 'leaves' and other materials, which can be placed on a felt workspace and easily moved around in response to changing discussion. Ketso is robust and portable, and comes in a handy carrying bag, making it easy to transport to and from events. Ketso provides a series of free resources to help you run effective workshops and engagement processes - such as workshop plans and training videos in planning and running a workshop.

The school is based around the creation of a business presentation using real cases and the skills they develop during their time at the school including opportunity recognition, finding a market, intellectual property, basic finance and building the key team. The first Enterprise School was attended by 34 students from the Universities of Manchester, Liverpool, Durham and Lancaster

Institution: University of LiverpoolTeaching for Researchers is an accredited L&T for Research Staff and PhD students who see teaching as a professional development opportunity. The course consists of 2 modules and each module takes place over an academic semester. In total, participants have to attend 4 sessions in each module. There are also support sessions planned that are tutor led and link to the assessment tasks that need to be completed. All sessions last 2 hours over lunch-time. The course started in January 2010, two new cohorts have been created for the October 2010 intake. In total, +130 participants are currently registered, attend sessions and submit assignments. The course is accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) The high interest from RS and PGRs demonstrates that researchers see learning and teaching as a valuable training opportunity as part of their personal and professional development.

It has been designed to enable students to build a career in a direction which recognises their own strengths and weaknesses, either in the world of academia or business and industry. Topics covered include: Managing yourself; Planning your career; Launching an academic career; Marketing yourself to employers; The work environment; Legal, business and other aspects. The course is assessed via 1) a reflective log of the development of students' career plans; 2) production of a CV; 3) submission of a mock grant bid with associated costings and staff requirements 4) a role play activity.

Institution: University of Central LancashireA one-day conference provided for postgraduate research students in Science & Technology to gain experience of presenting their research in an environment of peer support. Students are invited to submit an abstract and either give a 10-minute oral presentation or produce a poster on their research project. During the Poster Session on the day, students are divided into groups of 6 to discuss each other’s posters and decide on the winning poster for their group. The presenter of each winning poster is then be invited to give a 5-minute presentation in Darwin Lecture Theatre summarising their poster and an overall winner is decided upon, again by the research students. This event has been running annually since 2004. Prizes are awarded to the best overall oral and poster presentations. There is the Paul Harris Award for Outstanding Science.
