This Forum allows research staff the valuable opportunity to join discussions, hear developments, share practice and network.

4 day programme of highly interactive workshops and personalised, one-to-one coaching is designed to equip ECR with skills and approaches for leading a team and developing their personal style and impact. The aim of the course is to develop effective and confident leaders who have their own, genuine style – rather than adhering to any generic mode of leadership. These leaders know themselves and their team, and practice the fundamental attitudes, approaches and tools to get the best from both.

To give research staff an appreciation of the realities of a role in academia as well as an insight into the different funding routes. Research staff will also benefit from hearing from a range of senior academic staff who will share their experiences and advice for a successful academic career. Alongside securing funding, getting published, academic practice and responsibilities as well as employment rights, career progression and development opportunities.

This one day intensive workshop aims to prepare researchers to gain the most out of attending research conferences. The day begins with an exploration of what the benefits of conference attendance are, then focuses down on practical considerations of preparing poster presentations and ends with an engaging look at making an impact during presentations.

Preparation for Leading sessions offers research staff the unique opportunity to learn how to develop and deliver any kind of session and then deliver a training session to PGRs as part of the PG skills programme here at the University of Bath
