Tailored for a Post-Graduate only environment the training workshops cover the main areas of teaching and learning. The workshops can be taken individually or as part of the School's integrated Certificate in Learning and Teaching (CILT). CILT is HEA accredited and supports the development of an academic career. CILT is structured as two 30 credit medium-level modules, and the full certificate is an award bearing Certificate of the University of London.

A programme accredited by the Institue of Leadership and Management (ILM), covering both theory and practice of management and leadership. It is designed for Research Staff who are interested in developing these key skill areas, both to support their current roles and their career development – whether in academia, industry, business or other contexts. Format: induction and taster (60-120 mins), seven one-day workshops over four months, a two-day residential intensive with a computer business game simulation, directed reading and discussion via an online forum, two written assessments.

This event is arranged and delivered by DPhil students from the Medical Sciences Divison as part of the Medical Sciences Skills Training Programme. DPhil students are invited to register for event and if they wish to present submit an abstract. Twelve students are then selected to present at the event. Students are also invited to submit posters and prizes are given for the best talks and posters. The event concludes with a keynote speech followed by a drinks and capnapes reception. The event is partially funded by the Divisional Skills Training Programme and support from sponsors secured by the students organising the event. A full day conference for research staff from the 5 North East Universities with a programme aimed to help researchers reflect upon their own professional development and focus on the actions they can take to develop and manage their careers

This 'PI Development Programme' offers a range of transferable skills training, designed to assist the professional development of postdoctoral researchers, who are new to, or aspire to, the role of research leader.

The University has set up a fund to support local training initiatives led by researchers (PhD students and research staff) themselves. This Researcher-Led Fund is available for specific projects/activities/events initiated by research students or research staff for the benefit of groups of researchers at a School, research unit or research group level.

A Researcher Development Framework has been produced by the Researcher Task Group at the University of Stirling to assist researchers to make decisions regarding their personal, professional and career development opportunities.

Glasgow's Students' representative council and the University are working in partnership to boost PGR representation, ensuring reps have adequate support, resources and training to fulfil their full potential in the role and effectively contribute to policy and strategy development.

This course supports researchers whilst they write publications. Giving them practical help with structuring and writing papers and also support to find the time and motivation produce a complete first draft.

This is a 2 day course for research staff focusing first on project management and then, on day two , managing people with a particular emphasising managing relationships within a research team in order to get the best out of people and your project.
