Programme of workshops available to research staff, mapped to Loughborough Skills Statements and Concordat Principles

Schools and Research Institutes across the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences are invited to bid for funds to host inter-disciplinary conferences organised and presented by postgraduate researchers and research staff; skills training in presentation, poster design and event management is offered to support the organisers and participants.

This three-day, non-residential GRADschool takes multi-disciplinary teams of postgraduate researchers through the importance of effective communication in promoting research outcomes on a theme of “sustainability” via a variety of media (e.g. film, press releases, posters for the public, ‘Fame Lab'-type presentations and Twitter™ tweets) to two different audiences: secondary school students (11-16 yrs old) and local City policymakers.

A quarterly newsletter for research staff working at the University of Manchester written and edited by fellow researchers, highlighting activities, information and personal perspectives relating to professional and career development.

A fund for researchers within the Faculty to apply for, to cover costs of attending external events which develop their transferable skills.

Workshops facilitated by prestigious fellowship holders aiming to provide key information to research staff who are interested in applying for a Fellowship. A successful fellowship application form becomes part of the workshop and is used to discuss each section of the application, language and other key parts of the process.

A one day conference for research staff in the University of Liverpool. The day consisted of plenary presentations and parallel sessions and offered to research staff the opportunity to explore in detail three main themes: T1: Enterprising Researcher and Knowledge Exchange T2: Supporting Research Excellence T3: Funding and Fellowships Academic staff with PI roles, senior researchers and the University's senior management contributed to the day's sessions. An interactive Q&A panel discussion offered a very informative ending to a successful and highly productive day.

This is a student led project which aims to bring together researchers from different disciplines to discuss the use of new media technologies.

Training needs handbook and log for research postgraduates – combining guidance on training needs analysis, space for planning and reviewing personal and professional development and provides examples of training and development activities.

A half day workshop intended as a starting point for any researcher interested in applying for independent research funding.
