This course runs over a full day and is designed to create a continuum of skills awareness and training for 1st year PGR students of all disciplines. The event can be seen as an induction to the Roberts’ Initiative and our programme of skills training which will compliment the induction that students will already have received from their colleges. The event contains elements of other courses offered at our institution through the Roberts’ Initiative but not in such an intensive form and part of the events function is to raise awareness of skills courses available amongst the new PGRs. Linked with this course is a proposed longitudinal study assessing students’ current perceptions of theirs skills and following them through the years of their research exploring how it may chance and the impact of the skills programme. -
