Following the success of previous editions, this year welcomes LUSO 2012, the 6th Meeting of Portuguese Researchers and Students in the United Kingdom.
LUSO 2012 will take place on the 16th of June at the Senate House in London and its main theme is POWERING-UP PORTUGAL, aiming at encouraging disclosure, communication and interaction in the fields of science, technology, entrepreneurship, and arts, among others. LUSO 2012 will host a diverse panel of prominent guest speakers from the academic, entrepreneurial, and political fields.
The following are some of the confirmed speakers: Nuno Crato (Portuguese Minister for Education and Science), João de Vallera (Ambassador of Portugal to the UK), Miguel Seabra (President, Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology), Sir Tim Hunt (Nobel Prize Laureate in Physiology 2001), Maria do Carmo Fonseca (Director, Instituto de Medicina Molecular), George Lomonossoff, (BBSRC Innovator of the Year 2012) António Câmara (CEO, Ydreams), João Magueijo (Professor of Theoretical Physics, Imperial College London), Carlos Caldas (Professor of Cancer Medicine, University of Cambridge), Miguel Castro Coelho (Economist and former Senior Policy Advisor in the UK), José Rodrigues dos Santos (Journalist).
Notwithstanding being the annual meeting of Portuguese Researchers and Students in the United Kingdom, LUSO 2012 welcomes participants across all areas of study/work, ages and nationalities.
Registration for LUSO 2012 will be open until the 9th of June.
