Vitae is pleased to announce that The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) has incorporated the Vitae Researcher Development Statement and Framework in the consultation draft of the UK Quality Code for Higher Education chapter on research degrees.

This new Chapter replaces the Section 1 of the Code of practice: Postgraduate research programmes, published in 2004, which referenced the Joint Statement of Skills Training Requirements for Research Postgraduates.

The QAA are seeking your feedback in order to:

  • update the content to take account of changes and developments that have taken place since the last edition was published in 2004
  • bring the format and content in line with the model for the UK Quality Code for Higher Education, which was officially launched in December 2011.

The consultation will close on Friday 23 March 2012 and responses are encouraged prior to that date, via an online survey.

The QAA will be running two consultation events during the consultation period, one in London (27 February 2012) and a second in Glasgow (14 March 2012).

If you would like further information relating to this consultation document or the consultation process, please contact Janet Bohrer (j.bohrer@qaa.ac.uk ) or Cathy Kerfoot (c.kerfoot@qaa.ac.uk).
