The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) has launched its response to the National Student Forum report published in 2009. In their report, members of the National Student Forum looked at a wide range of issues, including teaching and learning, technology enhanced learning, student accommodation and employability. This year's publication has also looked at issues affecting postgraduate students; mature and part-time students and disabled students.
The response by the government continues the dialogue that has developed between students, higher education Institutions and the government so that the student voice can become central to the development of higher education policy and to the enhancement of the student experience.
In recognition of the Forums work to encourage and inspire continuing improvement across the HE sector, the government has made a commitment to respond publicly to the NSF report. This response addresses the recommendations provided for government and national sector organisations. The government has worked with a wide range of organisations from the sector including UUK, Guild HE, NUS, and QAA. In addition, the response makes a number of references to Vitae's work with UK HEIs to embed professional and career development in the research environment.
