***CANCELLED***How to be an effective researcher for research staff - Midlands Hub 03 December 2009 - 04 December 2009

Event overview

  • Project Management - for participants' own projects, and in assisting other with their projects;
  • People Management - Managing others (students, technicians, etc) and being managed (PIs, department heads, etc)
  • Prioritisation of competing tasks and a managing complex, diverse workloads
  • Orientation within a longer term career.

These areas will be addressed through experiential learning and will also respond to the issues raised by participants. Full attendance on both days is required as course activities have been designed to integrate self-awareness and learning across key areas of project management and career development.

This course is aimed at early career post-doctoral level researcher (whether having a doctorate, or experience or qualifications) within the first 3-12 months of  their first research contract with project management responsibility.
