Completing your doctorate10 September 2009

Event overview

The Completing your doctorate workshop consists of two 3 hour interactive sessions which looks in depth at the process of writing a good thesis.

Day 1: Thursday 10 September 09.30-12.30

  • This session looks at the structure of a thesis and how to tackle writing it effectively for the reader i.e. the examiner.
  • ‘Candidates are more likely to complete in a timely manner if they direct their attention to the examiner’s requirements – in particular to the presentation of the key conclusions, their significance and the extent to which they are original.’
  • Individual sections of the thesis are looked at in depth and techniques for preventing procrastination are explored.

Day 2: Thursday 17 September 09.30-12.30

  • This optional follow-up session allows participants who attended day 1 to further develop their skills in communicating their research question and key findings both concisely and effectively.

Please note: this workshop is now fully subscribed therefore registration has closed.
