Vitae SWW Hub - Leadership in Action - for postgraduate researchers and research staff

December 12-14, Arnos Manor Hotel, Bristol

This 3 day residential course will allow you to explore and develop your leadership skills.  You will have the opportunity to look at relevant theory, practice your leadership style and receive feedback.

 What will it involve?

The course will be attended by up to 36 researchers from the South West and Wales Hub regions, from different disciplines and career stages.  The course will be led by a team of experienced facilitators who will work with you throughout the 3 days to support your learning.  They will be from a variety of backgrounds with experience in leadership, academia and other sectors.

This course takes a ‘learning by doing' approach. There will be presentations on leadership theory, but for the most part, you will be actively participating in the sessions and activities. 

Timing

The 3 day course will run from Monday December 12 from 10:00 approximately 17.00 on Wednesday 14 December Please note: this is an intensive 3 day residential course.  When registering for the course you will be expected to attend for the full duration.

Entry requirements/cost

Eligibility

This event is open to research staff and postgraduate researchers from the following HEIs in the South West and Wales Region, subject to availability: Aberystwyth University, Bath Spa University, Bangor University, Bournemouth University, Cardiff University, Glyndwr University, Swansea University, Swansea Metropolitan University, University of Bath, University of Bristol, University of Exeter, University of Glamorgan, University of Gloucestershire, University of Plymouth, University of Wales Institute, Cardiff, University of Wales, Newport, University of the West of England.

Cost

Places on this course are charged at £50 per participant, however many universities will cover the cost of this training - please check with your local training/skills department. Travel expenses will also have to be covered by participants. Some HEIs may offer support with this.

All accommodation and meals will be provided - there will be no charge for this.

To register your interest in attending this course please use the booking form. As this is a regional course, we will aim to get a good mix from all HEIs in the region. We will let you know by OCTOBER 14 if you have been successful in obtaining a place.

CANCELLATION FEE

Please note, if you withdraw once you have accepted a place, you will have to pay, at your personal expense, a cancellation fee of £50
