Recruiting disabled researchers

If you are looking to recruit postdoctoral graduates, you will want the best person for the job you are recruiting to.

The Employers' Forum on Disability, which has almost 400 member organisations from the private and public sectors, focuses on disability issues as they affect business. It has produced publications which offer a compelling business argument for employers to include disabled employees in their workforce.

However, disabled graduates with research degrees may have met with discrimination in the past - in spite of their proven ability to achieve. This past experience could influence a postgraduate researcher's decision about which organisations they will apply to for work. As an employer, you could be unknowingly missing out on highly qualified, reliable and suitable applicants; excellent potential applicants may be discouraged from applying to you if there is not a clear indication that their applications are welcome.
