Bridging the skills gap: developing innovative library support for researchers

NB: This workshop is now full. However we are operating a waiting list in case of cancellations. Please use the booking form to be placed on the list.

The research information environment is changing fast, with the Research Excellence Framework and a possible future without Roberts funding presenting new challenges and opportunities for librarians responsible for supporting researchers.

The RIN report "Mind the Skills Gap: information-handling training for researchers" found that "research information skills and competencies have not kept pace with rapid change" and raised questions about the future of research training provision within libraries. This event, hosted by the Vitae South East Hub and the University of Sussex, has been conceived in response to the report’s recommendations that Higher Education libraries engage with their Vitae regional hub to share information about good practice.

The free one-day workshop will present case studies from libraries across the region that are employing innovative or distinctive methods for supporting researchers, and provide opportunities to share information with other librarians about good practice, to encourage ideas and provide important networking opportunities.
