A Hub for Collaboration (SNI)
The Vitae Scotland and Northern Ireland Hub works hard to deliver for its network of stakeholders in HEIs, and beyond.
With a focus on collaboratively delivered activity, the Hub helps universities in the region to deliver sustainable researcher development. Various collaborative models are supported and piloted by the Hub, allowing a range of needs to be met and for partners to explore different ways to deliver for their researcher communities.
As a neutral but committed partner, the Hub is well placed to build trust in the regional network and act as a catalyst for events for researchers. Feedback consistently supports the collaborative model, with researchers reporting the value of meeting with colleagues across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Examples of events include:
- Part Time Researcher Conference - a free to attend one-day event for 130 part-time researchers; workshop leaders drawn from the region on a voluntary basis to ensure sustainability; collaboration to achieve impact for difficult to reach researchers
- Broadening Horizons career management course for research staff; piloted in 2010 repeated in 2011 with careers advisors tutoring on course and HEIs paying the costs for individual places.
