Bank of England 

Bank of England offers postgraduate internships and sponsorship to postgraduate researchers who are looking to undertake postgraduate study in economics and/or finance, before joining the bank.  Researchers who are successful during the selection process will be offered a six to eight week paid internship during the summer after graduating.   

Detica

On a ten week placement the intern will find out what it is like to work for an innovative technical consultancy, spanning the roles of data analytics, electronic engineering, software development and technical consulting.

Credit Suisse

Summer Internship Analyst Program. Credit Suisse Summer Internships typically last ten weeks (placements lasting ten weeks to twelve months are also available within IT and the Investment Banking division) The programme is designed to offer real insight into their business. 

Google

Internship Programmes. At Google, interns are key players in daily innovation and have the opportunity to make big contributions. Google internships are full-time positions and take place year-round. Start and end dates are flexible with regard to academic schedules, but interns will be expected to commit to at least three months of full-time work. 

IBM

The PhD Fellowship Awards Program is an intensely competitive worldwide programme, which honours exceptional postgraduate researchers who have an interest in solving problems that are important to IBM and fundamental to innovation in many academic disciplines and areas of study. Preference will be given to postgraduate researchers who have had an IBM internship or have closely collaborated with technical or services people from IBM.

JP Morgan

They have a wide variety of internships and full-time roles primarily available within quantitative research for quantitative PhD, advanced Masters and DEA students. Opportunities also exist within sales, trading and research, and in areas such as exotics and yybrids, and structuring. The summer internship programme runs for twelve weeks from June to September. 

Microsoft Research

Microsoft Research offers internship opportunities at research locations around the world. The majority of the interns are postgraduate researchers in the field of computer science, related technical majors, or social sciences with a technical focus, but they also accept a small group of outstanding students with a proven research focus who are Master's or Bachelor's candidates. 

Scottish Financial Risk Academy PhD internships

Companies offer internships to postgraduate researchers who work on three month research projects, generally under the joint supervision of an industrial partner and a member of an academic department. PhD placements can be considered throughout the year. Companies who have an interest in establishing a PhD placement in a quantitative topic are invited to contact the SFRA to explore the benefits of this type of engagement. 

University of Edinburgh Tobacco Control Research Group (TCRG)

Postgraduate internship opportunities are available to current or recent postgraduate researchers from out with the University of Edinburgh to provide a three month internship each year based with the TCRG with the aim of developing their understanding of and capacity in tobacco control.
