Survey of employer practice
More than 100 employers responded to Vitae's Recruiting researchers: survey of employer practice 2009, giving an up to date insight into their perceptions. Key findings include:
- more than 70% of employers would welcome more job applications from postgraduate researchers
- 36% of employers wanted to understand more about the value of postgraduate candidates
- 11% of employers used different recruitment processes to select postgraduate recruits
- postgraduate researchers rate highly with their employers
‘Employers who simply encourage researchers to apply on the same basis as other graduate recruits are not usually successful in recruiting doctoral graduates ’
