Controversy is a case study which centres around scientific research and social issues. The exercise focuses on a science story, the science of stem cells. For participants understanding the detail of the science itself is not important, what is more important is an understanding of how science and society interact, and often clash, particularly in the media, and how science can influence or alter policy and/or lead to new policy decisions.
