Biography:
Jo Gilman. Director, Skills Developer and Coach at JoGC Limited. Jo has set up her own training business in order to concentrate on her passions of helping other people build confidence and develop key transferable skills. After starting out in pharmaceutical sales, she had an early career break windsurfing around europe before returning to the UK to take a Masters in Surveying at UCL. This led on to 7 years teaching surveying at UCL during which time she completed a PhD in Geographic Information Science. This experience developed a love of teaching, and an empathy for the difficulties faced by research students. This led to her taking a research student development role at Loughborough University which she held for 6 years. During this time she gained a coaching qualification; worked extensively on the professional underpinnings of good teaching and learning practice to achieve Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy - which also saw her taking a role as advisor to other staff working to achieve Associate status; gained accreditation in several psychometric assessment tools and a reputation for delivering ambitious, interactive experiential training courses that were very well received by the researchers at Loughborough.
