Personal profile:
Dr Caron King is a highly experienced project manager, with a track record of delivering major change programmes in both SME and corporate organisations in the oil and gas, pharmaceutical, retail, transport/logistics and engineering service industries in the public and private sector. She is a change expert and business coach who specialises in practical, measurable methods of improving individual, team and business performance, particularly through periods of change. Having worked as a project manager for 17 years in a wide range of blue-chip companies, Caron has extensive experience of change management, project implementations, training management and delivery, business process re-engineering and operations and people management. In addition to project delivery Caron regularly delivers project management training for a variety of clients globally. After starting her career with a scientific degree, a PhD and post-doctoral posts within academia, Caron joined the Pharmaceutical industry, working in operations management and subsequently on substantial operations-wide change programmes, business process mapping and re-engineering. She delivers personal development training to staff and University researchers across UK Universities, and is a Director for the national and local grad school programmes. She regularly facilitates meetings and workshops for the organisations including the Ministry of Defence, the Cabinet Office, DirectGov and Business Link. Caron is an NLP Practitioner, a licensed trainer for The Coaching Academy, a Belbin team roles accredited trainer and experienced facilitator. With a reputation for learning new skills and concepts quickly, Caron has strong inter-personal skills, is a proven motivator and achieves high standards herself and for those working with her. She is married and lives in Warwickshire, England.
Biography:
Being a consultant has given Caron lots of different working experiences - when commuting by helicopter to and from an oil platform in the middle of the North Sea she often wonders how exactly a PhD led her to be in this position – she is yet another example of how the best laid plans in career management seem to go awry at the first hurdle. Caron started off her post-doc career with a jolly to Philadelphia for 6 months, then joined ICI Pharmaceuticals where she stayed for 11 years. The original plan to become an industrial research scientist failed at the first hurdle when ICI research wanted a Pharmacy graduate, so she joined manufacturing hoping for an internal transfer – and she hasn’t left the operations environment since. In 2001 Caron left AstraZeneca to join her RAF officer husband in Buckinghamshire and began a new career as a supply chain consultant. In 2003 she started career number 3 by going against any known piece of career advice and resigned from a ‘good job’ in order to set up her own company. She spent most of 2004 juggling a new business, completing her coaching accreditation, moving house, and coaching her husband through his career change as he left the RAF after 23 years. Then in 2005 she started career number 4 when she was offered the chance to coach full time offshore. In 2007 the urge to be independent took over again, and she is back doing Performance Improvement for just about anyone who will pay her. In her spare time she enjoys spending as much time as possible outside, in the garden or underwater as she works towards her long term ambition of becoming a dive instructor.
Testimonial one:
Caron has the ability to add considerable value to an organisation in a very short space of time Chris Wood, MBA General Manager Aggreko
Testimonial two:
The best 2 hours I have ever spent in training 2nd year PhD student Bath University
Testimonial three:
Working with Caron has left me feeling more in control. She prompted new ways of thinking and a new structure for doing things - this has given me more time to concentrate on the way that I do things rather than what I do. She helped me really focus and I feel that this is only going to get better. Lee Johnson Maintenance Manager Nelson Platform Shell Exploration & Production
