Experience Back to top
- Job title:
- Quality Assurance Manager
- Current institution:
- Procter & Gamble
- Relevant qualifications:
- BA (Natural Sciences, Cambridge) PhD (Chemistry, UMIST) MBA (Open University)
- Personal profile:
- I have an academic research background followed by a long and varied career in the private commercial sector. My primary interest is helping students recognise their potential, the transferable skills they already have, and the opportunities for rewarding careers where they can add significant value outside of the academic sector.
- Biography:
- After graduating from Cambridge University in Natural Sciences, I gained a PhD in Synthetic Chemistry of fluorinated materials at UMIST in 1978, followed by post-doctoral research at the University of Toronto in Physical Organic Chemistry and further research in Photo-chemistry at a Max Plank Institute in Germany. I then joined Procter & Gamble in Brussels in 1981 and have stayed with P&G in a variety of roles and locations ever since. In Brussels I worked initially in Analytical and then a range of Product Development jobs before transferring to P&G Paris for three years. I transferred again to P&G Health and Beauty Care in Egham in 1991 working on a variety of projects including introduction of products into emerging markets, Professional Relations for Beauty Care Products, and Quality Assurance. In 2004 I transferred to P&G in the North East of England working for an interesting period in Consumer Relations and Newcastle Technical Centre. My current Quality Assurance auditing role involves a lot of international travel to P&G manufacturing and R&D sites, so between trips I work from home.
