The Voice of Humanities18 March 2010

Event overview

Keynote Address: Dr Toby Thacker, Cardiff School of History and Archaeology (title of talk to be confirmed shortly)

This event provides a valuable opportunity for postgraduate researchers to find out about humanities research being pursued at Cardiff University and neighbouring institutions, and establish useful links. It is aimed at MPhils and PhDs across the humanities.

Proposals are invited for presentations and/or the production of a poster on your research which may either:

• Introduce your research project as a whole, giving an overview of what you are doing and why, and of how it fits into your field.
• Explain a specific aspect of your research in more detail.

In either case, the goal is to make your work accessible to non-specialists.

**£100 cash prize will be awarded to the best presentation and £50 to the best poster!**

To submit a proposal for a presentation and/or a poster, please click here for booking form (or here for Welsh version) and return it to VoiceofHumanities@cf.ac.uk (deadline for proposals: 5pm, Monday 15 February 2010)

Duration of oral presentations is 15 minutes. Please see the guidelines available at www.cardiff.ac.uk/gradschools/voh for tips on how to write a good abstract.

Posters should address four areas: the context/history of your work, what you are doing, why it matters, and where you are going next. When submitting an abstract for a poster, please provide an outline of this information (in approximately 100 words) for the selection panel to consider. Posters must be A1 landscape or portrait format. Please note that posters do not need to be completed until approximately one week before the conference.
