Salford Postgraduate Annual Research Conference (SPARC) 10 June 2010 - 11 June 2010
Event overview
SPARC is a cross disciplinary conference showcasing contemporary postgraduate research. It offers a space for researchers from different subject areas and universities to meet and share ideas, practise presenting in a supportive academic environment, and publicise their research to new audiences. The conference is free to attend and open to all research students at any stage of their research. We are inviting 250 word abstracts for papers, demonstrations, screenings, exhibitions, readings (all 15 minutes) or posters. A poster competition offers a cash prize, with voting undertaken by the conference delegates. We also welcome proposals for 60 minute workshops and symposia/panel discussions. Proposals will be peer reviewed and selected on the basis of the originality, rigour and significance of the research. Abstracts and presentations should also be tailored appropriately for a cross-disciplinary audience. We welcome abstracts on all research areas. Some of the panels will be organised around the University of Salford's six themes (see below) but there is much scope for additional panels, so proposals need not be limited to these themes.
- Energy
- Media, Digital Technology and the Creative Economy
- Human Rights, Social Justice and Security
- Health and Wellbeing
- Innovation and Enterprise
- Built Environment
We also encourage submissions from humanities researchers whose work may not relate directly to these areas. The closing date for abstracts is Monday 12 April.
