Workshop outline
This session will introduce participants to the idea of "amplification". We will discuss how the use of Web 2.0 technologies can be used to enhance the experience of conference attendance.
Amplification of the Vitae conference is designed to enable a greater sharing of information and views and enable those who are unable to attend the physical conference to access some of the information. By using these online tools we will also be able to extend conference discussions before, during and after the conference and to create a permanent record of the discussions at the Vitae conference.
Participants will:
- consider what the advantages and disadvantages of amplifying face to face events using Web 2.0 technologies
- set up a twitter account if they do not already have one
- send and recieve some messages via twitter
- be introduced to the conference blog facility.
By the end of the session participants will:
- have experience of using twitter
- have had the opportunity to address questions and concerns about the use of Web 2.0 technologies during the Vitae conference
- have reflected on the value of using Web 2.0 technologies to help maintain professional networks beyond the conference.
