You know I like to update you when there are Vitae courses coming up that I reckon would be worthwhile. Well, here's a corker (not a Vitae course but a pilot funded through the Vitae Innovate scheme):

The University of East Anglia are running a residential, experiential learning course specifically to prepare people to become entrepeneurs in the low carbon economy. The course is held on 7 to 9 September. It is open to early career researchers from across the country and it is free. The course includes a visit to Adnams brewery as an example of a low carbon enterprise. For more information on the course and on how to sign up visit: http://www.vitae.ac.uk/researchers/56271-264591/Business-skills-and-the-low-Carbon-economy.html

it sounds like a great opportunity to me!

I wonder why this is limited to so-called "early career" researchers. Do they not think that us oldies will have any good ideas?

I suppose it depends how they define early career researchers, as well - just finished your PhD? Anyone not in a lectureship? Under 30 (everyone knows your brain starts rotting after that...)?

Unfortunately, my brain began rotting a few years before hitting 30! And what a great strategy with a visit to the Adnams brewery!
