We have spoken on this blog before about the merit of going on Advancing in Academia courses. This course is designed to help members of research staff who want to advance their career in academia. It is a very interactive and intensive's day's course. It is also a great networking opportunity. And it's free.
There are still some places available on the Advancing in Academia course for research staff in Bristol on the 22 September:
I'd consider going to this and please spread the word to your colleagues.

Hi Tennie - Do you know the times of that event? I've been considering it, but I'm not sure if trains are affordable or even possible for a morning start... Cheers, Hannah

As a follow-up to Hannah's question, I was wondering if any funding is available for travel to this?

Hi both, the program runs 9 to 5 ish. If you are employed by a university your department or staff development are likely to have funds available for training (the Roberts funds) which could be used for travel to events like this. Or many grants have money allocated for training or travel in them. If you're currently in between contracts that is a lot trickier....
