Questions & answersBack to top

What were you doing before your doctorate?

Just before i commenced my PhD i was completing my MA in Sociology of Sports at University of Leicester.

What are you doing now?

Currently i am working on my thesis and looking for a new job as well as figuring out a possible career in sports writing at www.anoldinternational.co.uk

What impact has your doctorate had on what you are doing now?

It is such an enriching experience to do research that is entirely my own. Also it has shown me so far how difficult it is to remain detached to a sunject as much as possible, particular when it refers to one's own country and history and the relationship with another country, like Germany and England.

What was the route between your doctorate and what you are doing now?

I am still on the route towards my PhD.

Since you completed your doctorate, how have you drawn on your experience as a doctoral researcher?

See the question above.

When you reflect on your doctorate, what stands out in terms of its contribution to your subsequent career development?

N/A.

During your doctorate what skills would you say you learnt or developed?

What advice would you give to doctoral researchers considering a similar career path to your own?

They should above all focus on their thesis but should not forget that there is a life to live as well and to explore other fields of research, if only briefly.

Anything else?
