Will institutions be required to provide training opportunities to cover all of the RDF?
The Researcher development framework (RDF) provides a national structure for researcher development for postgraduate researchers and research staff. One of its strengths is that it provides higher education institutions (HEIs) with a framework to underpin strategic reviews of researcher development provision. The RDF, as with the current Joint skills statement, makes no judgement on whether or how the knowledge, skills, attributes and behaviours are developed. It is expected that HEIs will provide a range formal and informal development opportunities to support researcher development and that they will be sufficiently flexible to suit individual needs.
