Understanding Research Staff Associations and their impact

This joint report by UKRSA and Vitae is an initial investigation into Research Staff Associations, identifying where they exist and how they are managed and structured and funded

It provides initial evidence to funders, senior managers, principal investigators, research managers, and research staff of the role of research staff associations in implementing the principles of 'The Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers.'

The evidence gathered and presented in the report clearly demonstrates the level of impact and influence existing research staff associations (RSAs) are achieving within their institutions, and how being actively involved in an RSA can influence an individual's personal and career development. The report makes recommendations to higher education institutions, RSAs, UKRSA and research staff with regard to how we can build on what has already been achieved, overcome barriers to greater success and impact, and fill gaps in knowledge and provision through further investigation and development.
