Guide to Research Staff Associations

One of the outputs of the report has been to develop a practical guide for anyone with an interest in establishing and sustaining a successful research staff association

It was written using responses from a recent survey and a series of follow-up interviews developed and instigated by the UKRSA and Vitae. These responses capture the experiences and opinions of researchers running successful research staff associations. It summarises common challenges faced by research staff associations and examples to suggest how these can be overcome.

Based on the opinions and experiences of those currently involved in running research staff associations (RSAs), the guide includes:

  • reasons why you should set up an RSA
  • practical considerations when establishing an RSA, including example models and sources of additional support
  • tips around growing and sustaining your RSA
  • case studies and practical tips from existing RSAs
