I am a self-confessed social media junkie. I was the first in my department to use social media applications as a primary mechanism for data collection and I have presented a number of papers on the ethical and data protection issues associated with the use of social media and e-research techniques for post-grad researchers. As such it is no surprise that I came to find phd2published through twitter, I love to tweet! I strongly believe that it has played a pivotal role in establishing my post-doc career. From finding the site I realised my prayers had been answered. My supervisors and examiners continually emphasised the importance of publishing to me however, I had no idea how to develop a publishing strategy, this worried me.

I am now the managing editor of the site and am using it to chart my own journey through the world of academic publishing starting with how to select journals for publications and dealing with revisions and rejections. However, I am very keen to hear from other novice academics about their concerns and questions in the area of writing and publishing and from experienced academics / researchers / authors who would like to contribute advice or tips

I will also be using the site in relation to the development of a training course for post-grad and post-doc researchers looking to effectively employ social media applications in their work. The course will be delivered through the King's College London Researcher Development Programme. It will focus on both the technologies themselves, as well as on the social, participatory and collaborative properties of these tools, to explore how social media can support and premote learning, research practices and professional development as can be seen from phd2published.Phd2Published works as Charlotte has now secured her own book contract.
