Advertising, public relations and marketing: roles for doctoral graduates

Data from ‘What Do Researchers Do?' shows that three and a half years after graduation, around 10.4% of doctoral graduates were known to be working in finance, business and IT, the grouping that contains the advertising, marketing and PR industry, and that the proportion was up slightly from the 9.4% seen six months after graduation. The job opportunities currently occupied by doctoral graduates within this sector are aligned with market research and statistical analysis of data, and this, along with management, is likely to be the most productive area for doctoral graduates to apply for jobs.  Doctoral graduates tend to find employment opportunities in areas requiring data analysis, market research, finance and strategic planning.
