Diplomacy of "telling off" someone senior to yourself
How do you tell someone senior to you (in terms of years in the lab) that they are not doing what is expected of them from a safety point of view without strainingg relationships? Or is it not your place and do you need to go and talk to the boss?

Show me the money!
At the University of the West of England (UWE, Bristol) we ran an event for the Researchers' Forum to raise awareness of the institutional strategy for research funding. This came about as a result of research staff at UWE wanting to know more about how the funding mechanisms work so as to be able to make more informed choices about how to carve out a research career. Subsequently I wrote up an article on my blog that summarises how research funding works and I'm sharing it here for your information.
