'The tutors inspired me to want to pursue an academic career. They were interesting, informative, knowledgeable, fun and enthusiastic'
Participant, Careers in academia, Bristol 2008
Overview
Are you considering your career options? Are you thinking about where you'd like to be... next year... in five years time? Do you want to continue working in an academic environment?
Around half all postgraduate researchers take up jobs within the education sector immediately on graduation, but not all of those are in research positions. More than 50% of doctoral graduates work outside the education sector on graduating. Many more researchers seek work outside the higher education sector at different points in their careers.
What are Careers in focus events?
Careers in focus are one day events that focus on careers for researchers in various sectors. They are designed to be informative and interactive to enable you to:
- find out about specific career paths and options
- explore the skills and competencies required to succeed in a particular sector
- network with people who work in the sector to find out what it's really like, and how to successfully succeed.
Recent and forthcoming events
Careers in focus events are free to all participants (a deposit is required with booking, which will be returned upon attendance).
