- An introduction to project management
An introduction to project management29 September 2009
Event overview
The learning objectives will cover:
- Areas of work that may not, at first sight, look like a ‘project', but where we can use the ‘toolbox' to help us improve effectiveness, to do more with less effort and to get organised.
- Short term very small projects as well as long term, large scale pieces of work.
- Managing a ‘portfolio' of projects, as well as individual projects.
- Practical project management and how the toolbox can really help with this.
Aims
By the end of the workshop you will have:
- Learnt a straightforward model for managing a project successfully and applied this to ‘real life' situations.
- Learnt key project management tools and techniques, the ‘toolbox'.
- Learnt some key principles for successful projects.
- Improved a range of skills in project management.
- Identified and documented an action plan to transfer the learning from the course directly to ‘real life'.
Participants will be encouraged to use the ideas to work on real life examples of projects that they bring with them from their workplace. The course will touch on the use of IT in project management, but this will not be a specific section of the workshop and IT skills are not needed.
