This three day residential course has been Vitae's most popular event ever since its launch in 2009. It allows researchers; postgraduate students and research staff (post-doctorates and early career researchers) to explore and develop their leadership skills.  Participants have the opportunity to look at relevant theory, practice their unique leadership styles and receive feedback.

Hear why participants in 2011 decided to join, their experience on course and what they will take away - in the 2011 November participant podcast

What will it involve?

The course will be attended by 60 researchers from across the country, from different disciplines and career stages.  The course will be led by a team of experienced facilitators who will work with you throughout the three days to support your learning.  They will be from a variety of backgrounds with experience in leadership, academia and other sectors.

This course takes a ‘learning by doing' approach. There will be presentations on leadership theory, but for the most part, you will be actively participating in challenging sessions and activities.

Event timings

The course will run from Tuesday 6 March and will finish at approximately 21.00 on Thursday 8 March where the course will close with a final directors farewell dinner and course party. Participants depart after breakfast on Friday 9 March.

Please note: this is an intensive three day residential course.  When registering for the course you will be expected to attend for the full duration.
