We are delighted to confirm that the Department for Employment and Learning in Northern Ireland, the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales and the Scottish Funding Council now join the Higher Education Funding Council for England and Research Councils UK to support Vitae from 2013.

Mark Batho, Chief Executive of the Scottish Funding Council, said: "The Funding Council is pleased to be working in partnership with the other UK funding councils and Research Councils UK to support Vitae in its development of researchers. This investment will help to facilitate the sharing of good practice across the whole sector in this important area."

Professor Philip Gummett, Chief Executive of HEFCW said: "We are pleased to be able to work with the other UK funding bodies and the Research Councils in supporting the professional development of researchers, and are sure that this partnership will bring great benefit to researchers at Welsh universities."

Vitae will continue to support professional development for both doctoral researchers and research staff, with a particular emphasis in the UK on supporting a 'step change in institutional support for research staff', delivering the vision of the Concordat and on deriving benefit from the investment in provision for doctoral researchers.

We look forward to working with the Hub Advisory Groups and regional networks to ensure that Vitae's work addresses your priorities and needs for the next three years.
