Legal requirements
Your institution will no doubt provide training on a number of these requirements, providing clarification in a research context in your institution. Such training is often mandatory, but if not, you should consider attending because:
- Although you can't be expected to become an expert in any particular area, a basic understanding of which aspects of your role and work are subject to legislation is extremely useful
- You will be more aware of the situations in which you should seek further advice. There will be professionals in your institution who will be happy to answer what you may consider to be trivial questions - and to reassure you that you are acting within legal requirements.
