Dr Cecile Menard

Biography 

Cecile Menard is a researcher at the University of Edinburgh where she splits her time between the Institute for Academic Development (IAD) and the School of Geosciences. Her research focuses on how our research culture and the research environment in which we evolve affect our research practice. At IAD, she investigates the circumstances behind the career paths of researchers in long-term employment on precarious contracts. As a geoscientist, she is interested in how subjective decisions, assumptions or biases affect scientific processes that are otherwise widely accepted to be grounded in objectivity, such as in the development of physically-based models (e.g. components of climate models).
