Dr Maria Fernandes

Biography 

Maria was recently the Head of Membership and Professional Development at the Microbiology Society, a membership charity for scientists interested in microbes, their effects and their practical uses. During her time at the Society, Maria led the expansion of its professional development support for its members, using feedback from members to empower them via a full programme of support, including establishing a forum for early career researchers to gain vital experience to support their career development. Maria received her PhD in Pharmacology in 2015, and is passionate about supporting ECRs to navigate the workplace, making the most of their skills in careers that suit them.
