Biography
Gabby Silberman is the Director General of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Experimental and Health Sciences at the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF). He completed his PhD in Computer Science at the State University of New York at Buffalo and has since held positions as tenured faculty at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, Group Leader at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, Program Director at the IMB Toronto Lab, and as Adjunct Professor at the University of Waterloo in Canada. Prof. Silberman also acted as Senior Vice-President and Director of CA Labs, Chief Scientist for Owl Computing Technologies, Executive Director of Research at Dell, and prior to joining BIST, as Adjunct Professor at Texas A&M University and Chief Scientist at Cerebri AI. Prof. Silberman has an extensive research background in both the private and academic sectors and is an active inventor with 29 issued patents. He strongly supports diversity, education, and closer collaboration among research institutions, industry and society.
