Biography

Genevieve has been involved in a wide range of international research and development projects in sub-Saharan Africa over the past 12 years. She has taught on MSc level modules and supervised dissertation projects specialising in agroforestry, tropical & temperate forestry, and research methods field courses. She is currently working under a Global Challenges Research Fund project called Building REsearch Capacity for sustainable water and food security In drylands of sub-saharan Africa (BRECcIA), which entails working with universities and research institutes in Malawi, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Niger and Zimbabwe. It is a hugely diverse and multi-disciplinary team and her research focuses on the impact and efficacy of researcher development activities within the project. There is a large cohort of early career researchers on the project and the aim is to ensure they get the support they need through tailored professional development training and peer-to-peer exchange.
