Biography

Holly completed her PhD in Literature and Cultural Geography at the University of Birmingham in 2011. Her research looked at the narrative and affective roles of abandoned spaces in contemporary British fiction. After completing her PhD she worked in postgraduate student recruitment and careers support for taught postgraduates, being awarded a PGDip (QCG) in Career Guidance from Coventry University in 2016. She moved into her current role as Careers Adviser for Postgraduate Researchers at the University of Birmingham in February 2017; she also currently sits on the national AGCAS Research Students and Research Staff careers Task Group and is a guest Masterclass presenter for FindaPhD. Outside of work, Holly is Assistant Artistic Director of Ottisdotter Theatre Company in London and is also a member of the Crescent Theatre in Birmingham where she recently played Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet (November 2018).
