Biography

Jenny Brady is an enterprise educator and specialist working with researchers at all stages, both students and staff, across Newcastle University. Her expertise enables these associates to become fully aware of and immersed in the opportunities available to them to further their careers, their enterprising behaviours and to nurture entrepreneurial intentions. Designing, delivering and developing bespoke modules, workshops and interactive programmes in collaboration with each school and institute is a key emphasis of her role, alongside understanding the current and future career aspirations of the researcher communities at Newcastle University and other comparable institutions. Jenny is currently programme leader for ACTION for Impact, a unique training and support offer for early career researchers and post graduate researchers to develop their personal, commercial and societal impact, which she aims to develop further after an initial successful pilot year of delivery to nearly 200 researchers, resulting in several participants being awarded substantial funding to explore the impact of their research.
She is often called upon to comment on researcher development and challenges and to offer support to enterprise educators across the UK.  Prior to joining the Careers Service at Newcastle University in September 2010, Jenny was the lead Business Coach and Mentor at Leeds Beckett University and lecturer for the MBA at Leeds University’s Business School. She has developed and delivered training for organisations and institutions across the UK including NESTA, York University, Northumbria University, Birmingham University and the University of Sheffield, amongst other learning establishments. For several years, Jenny was the owner of a multi-award winning gift and jewellery boutique and currently runs an online children’s clothing company. She also provides support and motivation as a self-employed business coach, mentor and trainer, specialising in start-up and social businesses in the charity sector.
