Julia Fajardo Sanchez

Dr. Julia Fajardo-Sanchez MD, FEBOphth, was born in Lima, Peru. She attended medical school in San Martin de Porres University also in Lima, and graduated with high honors after completing the 7 years of training. She completed her ophthalmology residency program in 2018 at Gregorio Marañón Hospital, Instituto Oftalmico, in Madrid, Spain and during that time her affinity and curiosity to develop research papers began, especially on anterior segment and ophthalmic surgical outcomes. Started her London career in the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital at City Road, working within one of the most successful ophthalmology research teams for Retinal Genetics and Corneal and Ocular Surface, which granted her the experience to finally start her PhD with King’s College London in 2020. Julia’s research focuses in long prospective phenotyping and genotyping of glaucoma patients as well as working towards setting a glaucoma biobank, under the supervision of Dr. Cynthia Yu-Wai-Man.
