Biography
Laura Booth
Laura Booth is a second year PhD student in the labs of Dr Gavin Richardson and Dr Jason Gill at Newcastle University. Her PhD project is based in the field of Toxicology, and she studies the long-term side effects of anthracyclines, which is a class of anticancer medicines. Specifically, she is exploring whether anthracyclines might accelerate the ageing process in cancer survivors’ hearts and lead to cardiac disease many years after their chemotherapy finishes. Outside the lab, Laura enjoys visiting the North East’s bracing coastline, visiting her family back in hilly Sheffield, and sharing her science with anybody who will listen!
