Biography

Alison Mitchell, is Director of Development for Vitae, promoting world class researcher development to realise the potential of researchers in UK and internationally. Alison leads major Vitae programmes including Membership, Annual Programme, Vitae Researcher Development Framework, Every Researchers Counts equality and diversity, Continuing professional development for researcher developers, international institutional strengthening consultancy, and themed projects such as open researcher, employability, entrepreneurship and leadership. 

As Head of the Postgraduate Research Office, University of Strathclyde, Alison established the university-wide framework for researcher development, accomplished large scale postgraduate collaborative training and knowledge transfer with industry, managed doctoral scholarships, and conducted research into researchers in SMEs and academic intrapreneurship. At the University of Glasgow, Alison engaged in UK and international postgraduate recruitment, student support as Adviser of studies, and public engagement initiatives including Women into Computing Science and science clubs for girls.  Alison is Fellow of the Association of University Administrators, member of the Chartered Management Institute, Associate Fellow of the University of Warwick and member of Institute of Knowledge Transfer.
