Postgraduate Researcher Development Adviser
Chantal has been working as the Postgraduate Researcher Development Adviser with the Researcher Development Team at the University of Leicester since 2015. She delivers workshops, webinars, one-to-one sessions, and organises a variety of key postgraduate researcher events, including the 3 Minute Thesis Competition, PhDepictions (a photography competition), and the Festival of Postgraduate Research (end of year poster competition). Chantal is currently focusing her research on the evaluating the effectiveness of researcher development resources for distance-learning postgraduate researchers and post-PhD experiences and support. Particular interests include postgraduate researcher data, supervisor experiences, and postgraduate research communities.
Chantal completed her PhD in Early Medieval Archaeology in 2014 and then spent a year working at De Montfort University as a Residence Co-ordinator, followed by a 3-month position as an archaeologist for the Charnwood Roots Project until finally taking her current role. Chantal still researches early medieval archaeology, focusing especially on Alpine communities, in her spare time and has recently been awarded a small bursary from the Society of Church Archaeology to do a survey on early medieval churches in southern Switzerland.
