Manager, Vitae, South West and Wales Hub
Anne Goodman is the Vitae South West and Wales West Hub Manager. Based at Cardiff University, Anne is responsible for delivering the Vitae programme across the higher education institutions in the region. She manages the day today activities of the Hub by ensuring the needs of staff supporting researchers are met by organising conferences and events for them, running events for researchers and managing the wider network of contacts, She regularly delivers training for both postgraduate researchers and research staff at institutional, regional, national and international levels.
Before taking up this role in 2004, Anne attended Queen Mary College, London University where she read English. After a stint in TEFL, she began working in educational PR - first for a professional accountancy body (CIMA) then as Public Relations Officer for BTEC. Returning to Cardiff to raise a family, she again worked for CIMA, as a Careers Development Officer working with undergraduates and Careers Services in universities in the South West and Wales area.
In parallel to these jobs, she has been writing for many years on careers issues for publishers such as AGCAS (for the Graduate Prospects website) and Hobsons, and has undertaken various careers related projects for universities.
In her spare time Anne enjoys walking and being by the sea and is a keen member of a reading group which meets monthly for books (and wine!).
