Biography

Dr Alison Leggett heads up Academic Staff Development within Human Resources at the University of Bristol, a team which delivers development across the range of the academic role including research skills, leadership and teaching and learning.  Alison is both an experienced researcher (PhD at Nottingham University and post-docs at the Universities of Leicester and Bristol) as well as a qualified HR professional and brings these two elements together to ensure that academic staff development is fully integrated with career-related policy and processes for academics at Bristol. Alison's areas of specialism are researcher development and leadership development and she is particularly passionate about improving the working environment, productivity and success of research teams through leadership development and supporting postdoctoral career transitions by optimising, and generating awareness of, their transferable skills.

Alison is a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a qualified Myers Briggs Type Indicator Practitioner, She is a former member of the UK CROS Steering Group and has written regular career development articles for jobs.ac.uk
